I hadn’t heard much about the Prusa i3 MK2 MultiMaterial Upgrade for a little while, it was expected to begin shipping last November but I heard it had been delayed. I have gathered some information about it’s current status. For anyone who doesn’t subscribe to the Prusa Research mailing list, Josef provided an update recently:I need to apologize for the delays of the MultiMaterial upgrade, which was scheduled to ship before Christmas but will be shipped at the end of January. During the beta testing we learned the hard way that not all the materials are created equally even if they are of the same kind. Some filaments get marked by drive mechanism easily and prevent successful material change, so we redesigned the drive gears and will be shipping out new parts to beta testers to run a new round of tests.Josef has since tweeted that they will be using Bondtech drive gears for the MultiMaterial upgrade which I assume is to address these issues.I have also found some videos of it in action for the beta test:https://youtu.be/5ZdPSUBd2IAhttps://youtu.be/4UjCZ4YPdkghttps://youtu.be/ZNCjt-T5IGM http://ift.tt/2iNr9b5
