Is a 32bit controller going to make a significant difference in a Cartesian machine?

Prusa, Ultimaker, or CoreXY kinematics, single or dual hot end. Wondering if I should spring for a smoothieboard or if an 8-bit system will do the same thing. http://ift.tt/2e9qpvT
