I know this is a rant and has only a little to do with 3d printing but i need to get this out of my mind.So here is my story with all its up and downs.About 4 weeks ago i started making cheap fast and reusable clips for an improvised mouthguard.I ended up making 1300 pairs of them and gave them away for free. Unfortunaly it turned out that 4 weeks ago the mindset of my community was well … in the “its just a flu” state and i was called names like “Fearmonger” or ” you just want to make a profit!” how that works by giving the clips away for free and denying every money donation and giving away the supplies (desinfectend or real masks etc) to a local home for the elderly, i will never understand.The clip production came to a fast end when i got a visit from the authority on sunday morning.Turned out that some asshole reported me for “selling them at extreme high prices and claiming that they prevent an infection to 100%”. Luckily i gave them away with a instruction that disproved the claims and the report was dismissed.Oh and that i dont forget it … the instructions contained pictures of how to use the clips … but the local foodbank threw the clips away because they “did not understand” how to use it. … I tested the instructions on my 6 and 9 year old neighbours kids and they were able to assemble the clips in seconds!!!!When i delivered the last batch of clips to a pharmacy the owner of it asked if i could make faceshields for a childcancerclinic. So i searched for a model and started printing.I begged neighbours and local stores for foils and paid for all of it out of my own pocket. I even had to use some of my last favours i had with all the people i know to get some.Second blow to my motivation occured when i deliverd the first batch of shields to the clinic.While i was handing the shields over to the nurse i felt a tap on my shoulder and heared the words i always feared to hear the moment i discoverd r/entiteledparents “EEEEEXXXccuuuussseee mmmeee!”Enter entiteld mom. I must have looked a little confused because she repeated her “Exxxuuuussee me” in a higher tone and volume. So i asked why taking a step back to avoid her smelly breath “Hello? Whats going on?”She said in the typical Karen tone “Why is there no pink frame for the shield? I orderd a pink one! My child deserves it! She is a princess!”I was already very annoyed and close to main the spearguns and slay that landwhale for science when i saw the little girl very ashamed hiding behind her. The girl looked really sick and tired … i was thinking about how to tell her that im doing this for free and dont take specific colour orders.Luckily the nurse (and she is the biggest hero in this whole experince to me) was awesome. She took one of the white frames and wrote pink on it why “chanting” a spell. Then she bow down to the child and told here that its magical now and everybody will think now that its pink! I tell you what i have have never seen a child that happy!Then the nurse carefully pulled me away and we left the mom standing there with an open mouth gasping for air like a fish out of water.While disgussing some change to the shields, she told me that everybody hates that mother because she had already 6 children and 5 died of cancer as childs … and the little girl is also just on pain meds already. I tell you i was so angry that i wanted to get a hot iron and wield some parts of the mother shut.Anyway … third and final blow occured today.Some other locations and or public services “orderd” shields 3days ago. 130 pieces to be percise so quite much for me and my 2 printers. (The CNC kitchen helped a lot to speed up the production)Anyway i ripped my butt a second crack this weekend despite beeing sick with a heart issue too get it done. And well … i succeded.Completly lacking of sleep i desinfected them at 4 am in the moring packed them up and started to deliver them …And thats where i hit the low point of this whole “saving the world”.ALL!!! ALL people who orderd told me that they do not need the shields not now. They would not even take them for future use. Some even told me to just throw them away!Its not that i made crappy ones! I used the all the premium material i had!Completly demotivated i had not enough of being kicked in the nuts and tried some foodstores or dentists… they also denied the shields.One of the denists calling the whole idea of 3d printing stuff incase of emergrency bullshit and that im just a stupid nerd.As last effort i searched for a maker hub and gave them the left over foils for the shields to them.I gave the shield away now to customers in a foodstore .. with up to 5 per person to provide a entire family with some protection it was over in less then an hour of course with some further insults.And thats why i stopped production now . Im sorry but after all this i have to stop for my own safety.Sorry for grammar and thank for reading.TL;DR: I was too early with the printing so people did not take it seriously. Got the police called on me. Got talked down by a entiteld parent. And risked my own health to make much shield and got turned away when delivering them.Edit: My first gold!
