For Christmas 2017 we bought my 15yr old son a DIY (RepRap Prusa I3 V2) 3d printer. I knew it would be a project for him to get it put together and printing, but I figured he had a week or so after Christmas to get it up and running. It turned out to be a bit bigger project than either of us had realized! I have only provided encouragement along the way, and it has been amazing to watch him turn a pile of boxes into a machine that he built and knows inside and out.
