How long is too long of a print for you, or how long do your prints normally run?

I’ve often seen people running 24 and 48 hour prints at super fine resolutions and super thing nozzle, and I always think to myself “good lord that is forever is forever to wait!”I’m a fan of the idea of RAPID prototyping, and I want my prints to come out FAST! I run a volcano nozzle that’s .8mm and I run at layer heights of .4mm. I default to 2 shells thick, and 2 layers at the top and bottom, and everything comes out as stout as a solid part. But my prints generally stay in the 2 to 4 hour window of time! 3D benchy would take 45 minutes to print with my current settings(though that’s probably not optimal for that specific print)Now with that said, the layers are super obvious(sometimes its a nice effect to leave on), but that’s easily remedied by some acetone processing, even down to a marble smooth finish! I see it that the chance of an error goes up exponentially over time when your printing, so a shorter print time with a bit of post processing is always preferred to me.Does anyone else out there shoot for as fast a print as possible like me, and how long do your prints normaly run? Best way I’d say to show how fast is to load a 3D benchy with the settings you normaly use!Generally my prints run 2-4 hours, and a 3D benchy will run me 45 minutes. http://ift.tt/29UvJls
