3D printing – it’s a life addiction.

You know, ever since I got my first 3D printer (just over a year ago) it has changed my life. I’ve worked with 3D modeling since over 20+ years ago, and always wanted to 3D print stuff, but it’s been either too expensive or too cumbersome with too little accuracy at the end of it all (you know…when you read people’s experiences online). But last year…well, December 2016 – everything changed for me, I got my first 3D printer, and no – I did not print a benchy, I just thought – if this is gonna be useful for me, I’ve heard that Blender will create STL files and that even founded some already “well known” 3D company to do their own 3D prints and sell them on the net, today they’re quite big (I’m not gonna mention it, because chances are – they’re spamming your inbox every week every year already). But when I saw that first 3D print come out – perfect – by the first print, I was sold – totally lost in 3D printing heaven. After that, I’ve made 100’s of 3D prints, now probably up in 15-20 spools of prints after just the first year. I’m hooked for life. The thing is – the 3D printer changed my electronics workshop life forever. Before when I ordered parts, I would always wonder if the parts would fit together, or if I would be able to get parts that fits the parts I’ve ordered on eBay…but after the 3D printer…it didn’t matter anymore, because if it didn’t fit – I could design and print stuff that FITS!I printed, covers for batteries, I printed knobs for radios, I printed flexible rubber feet for old radios that missed those, I printed kitchen appliance parts for parts falling appart in my kitchen, I printed my 3D characters that I later handpainted….And I could go on and on.3D printing for me is a blessing, it’s something that has come to change every day of my life. I’m over 50+ years old now, I’ve been a “maker” since I was 10+ years old, and always constructed and made my own stuff. But the 3D printer was the “missing” piece in my workshop.I just wanted to share my little story here. Excuse my ranting. End rant. 😉 http://ift.tt/2HbXMaI
