3DHubs is Dead

3DHubs has shut down the “Hub” portion of their business model and has become a clone of Shapeways/MakeXYZ.Customers upload a model and are automatically routed to a printer. Regardless of the longevity, quality, reviews, or services your Hub offers; most orders are sent to a single printer in North Dakota.Customers have limited ability to choose custom materials or compare printers based on reputation.3DHubs made all these changes without even informing the Hub operators. Us operators have been doing all the work for them these years; allowing them to grow their brand. Now they have pulled a bait and switch.3DHubs is routing all orders to just a couple of printers; which I suspect they have a special relationship with.Essentially all the Hubs have been fired without even telling us.My business used to receive about 10% of our revenue from 3DHubs ; over the past year it has decreased to 4%; and since this recent change less than 1%. Although they might have the legal right to rip the carpet out from under us; I consider this a despicable and immoral business practice. If 3DHubs is willing to discard all of us who were essential to building their reputation; will they have any loyalty to their new customers? I think not.Think twice before placing orders on 3DHubs. Experienced services are leaving in droves. When you place an order you supposedly have 3DHubs guarantee; but if you get a bad print (because all the good services are leaving) they will just send you to another hub instead of actually giving your money back. It will be more and more likely you will never receive a good quality print as more services leave.EDIT:Since this post 3DHubs has deleted my printers from my account! I guess it shouldn’t surprise me too much!EDIT2:They have completely deleted my Hub and account and all my comments from the platform. We have 13 Printers; 9 FDM, 4 Form2’s. We’ve paid thousands in fee’s and serviced hundreds of orders since 2014 http://ift.tt/2xSbyy8
