I love my Maker Select, but this is just one more ridiculous issue that shouldn’t exist from the factory. And just like other issues (such as melted connectors) it seems this has been around since the beginning.I ran M503 this morning and something jumped out at me:EPR:3 11 405.4591 Z-axis steps per mm405.4591 steps per mm? WTF?This is how it came from the factory: not something I ever touched. It should be set to 400. A quick Google search revealed these things have been set weird from the factory since the beginning. Here’s a discussion from 2015 where JetGuy notes they should be set to 400 (but are not) and another user specifically mentions the 405.4591 value:http://ift.tt/2va32tP here’s an old post from this sub with the same value:http://ift.tt/2vsWRMV made sure to calibrate my e-steps when I first got the machine because I saw it recommended in so many places. Unfortunately it wasn’t until now that I realized my z-steps were incorrectly set (and to such a weird value!!). That means that even when I was using “optimal” layer heights they weren’t actually optimal: I was still hitting fractional steps when I didn’t realize it.While I doubt this will make a huge difference in my prints, fixing it gives me some peace of mind. If you run one of these machines I recommend you check yours. http://ift.tt/2g8eGis
