MakeXYZ Scammers – Buyer Beware

UPDATE: Thanks for the feedback and support. MakeXYZ found this post and are refunding me the money for the undelivered orders. Though I wish I could’ve resolved this weeks earlier through their customer support service, I’m grateful that the issue is getting addressed and will likely close this post once the refund processesIf you are pricing a job and considering using MakeXYZ know that there’s no guarantee as a customer that they’ll actually deliver what you order, and if anything goes wrong, customer service (Joel — the only guy who runs the operation) will ignore you.I placed a $200 MakeXYZ order well over a month ago. I couldn’t find many reviews positive or negative when I Googled, and I had a buddy who got an order from them no problem a few months back, so I took a chance and tried it out.Customer service contacted me a couple days after the order about having to split one of larger pieces instead of printing it as one giant piece, and I happily complied and even sent new files to save the maker the hassle.Another 10 days pass and I get part of my order (~$90 worth). I politely contact customer support to ask when the rest will get sent. They get back to me right away and say it’s coming from another maker and I’ll get new details soon (never happened).A week later I get a notice that the shipping label has been generated, so I figure it’s finally on it’s way.Another week passes and I see that the label generated never made it to the post office. Contact customer service. They claim to be contacting the maker to look into it.Another week passes. Politely contact customer service. No response.Another week passes. Slightly-less-politely contact customer service. No response….So at this point I’m pretty sure the maker assigned to the job scammed MakeXYZ and got their money by generating the shipping label but not sending anything. As a business owner, I can understand this. People are shitty, things happen. And honestly, if Joel told me “I got ripped off, nothing I can do, check the fine print”, I’d be pissed but accept it.However, it’s still bullshit that MakeXYZ is taking 20% being the middleman without actually trying to resolve any issues or hold his makers (or his business) accountable. If he’s getting scammed and just ignoring customers who don’t get their orders, that’s really no better than scamming himself, and you can’t trust any order from them because he’s the one vetting and assigning the makers to your job.My biggest regret (other than trusting MakeXYZ) was paying via debit card, so I can’t initiate a chargeback after waiting so long.Don’t be like me. Go with 3dhubs or a brick-and-mortar maker you can reason with if things don’t turn out.And if you’re a maker for MakeXYZ, know your employer is ripping people off and consider offering your service to more reputable providers. http://ift.tt/2qPvY7Q
