Makerbot 2X won’t detect HBP temp. Desperate for help. Intern, may get in trouble.

Hello, I’m an intern who was tasked with working on a Makerbot 2X 3D printer. I own my own Duplicator i3 and I’ve had great luck with that. I flashed the sailfish firmware and ran a few prints on the printer which turned out acceptable, but now it won’t start up and it says the HBP is at 255C. When I try to run a print it continues to try and cool the build plate and won’t initiate the print. I’ve tried disconnecting the build plate to no avail. I’ve also flashed the regular makerbot firmware and have gotten nowhere. Can anyone help me? Where can I go from here? http://ift.tt/2atqiXK

Nerf Blaster Parts?

Hi all,I’ve got a Nerf Maverick blaster that had a critical system failure a while back, and was retired to the back of the closet. After a recent teardown, I found that one of the plastic pieces of the internal mechanism has broken..this feels like a job for 3D printing! It’s a pretty complicated piece, certainly a challenge for my CAD skills. I’m hoping someone out there might have already gone through the exercise of modeling this thing, and I might find a plug-and-play file ready for printing. Best filament?

Is there any brands generally regarded as high-end/best for filament? Getting my first 3d printer soon (/r/voron) and I want to eliminate that variable for now. Just a nice and reliable would be great, once I get some mileage I can start trying to penny pinch.I’m starting with PLA for sure, as I’m in a small space so the smell is an issue. http://ift.tt/2aLr4BW
