Hello. I guess the title is a bit confusing what I want is to make a 3d printer with 500$ in parts but I want it to be the quality of a ultimaker or some other prosumer oriented 3d printer.I am a cnc machinist and I always wanted to have a 3d printer. I have a lot of aluminium extrusions, sheets, blocks and rods on hand with access to 3-5axis mills and lathes.I tried to find a design I liked but I couldn’t pick. I don’t know what are the advantages of a enclosure (not like there are chips flying) a bed z axis and a extruder z axis. What controller to use, how powerful the motors should be, 3mm vs 1.75 etc. What I am asking is for someone to show me where to start and/or what to start with. I’ve seen some videos but those look clunky, slow, badly made, I want to make it precisely, and with high grade components. Can it be done?EDIT: Thanks for the info everyone, I absolutely love these things that you showed me. I will make a parts list and a model of my project in solidworks. I will edit this post once again in about a day so anyone who comes here can see my plans and build progress. http://ift.tt/1qkAUwI
