ARK III 3D Printed R/C project FINISHED!

Check out the You Tube “Intro” video I made based on the TV show.https://youtu.be/DUEHPx6hihMFull image set of build here on Imgurhttps://imgur.com/gallery/fEBLVKvhttp://bit.ly/2IOiWQr project started off with the 3D Printed Rc Truck V4 by MrCrankyface [ http://bit.ly/2GzSpVj ] and almost immediately I had visions of creating the Sci-Fi vehicle “ARK II” from the old Saturday morning TV show [ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_lj8z28Mshw ].I quickly ran into issues with the 6lb weight vs the universal joints in the drivetrain and that resulted in some re-engineering for more strength and I wound up replacing most all of the universal joints with dogbones and cups that I designed and printed myself. This worked for most of the drivetrain except for one connection where I finally had to use metal.I also discoverd that the motor I installed was completely insufficient to the task so I switched to a 55 turn 540 brushed RC motor which then required a step-down gearbox so I again tapped Mr. Crankyface’s designs for this one [ http://bit.ly/2IOiYb1 ].The whole vehicle is 3ft 1in long, full 6×6 wheel drive, and can run up to 4mph. It will also crawl up almost anything if it can get traction. I bought the bearings, screws, electronics, motor, and the shocks/springs, but everything else is 3D printed includeing the body, all frame components, gears, driveshafts, wheels/rims and soft filament printed tires. http://bit.ly/2Iz4Inh
