Help my students enjoy the 3D printer

I am a PK-12 school librarian and we have a much loved 3D printer, but it’s a real pain to put to use because it’s tucked away out of necessity. Anyway, I am not sure this is allowed, but I did a quick rule-review and it seems like it should be OK…so, here it goes! I’ve created a Donors Choose project to fund the purchase of a cart for our 3D printer. In my estimation, adding wheels make just about anything better! I figured this is the place to go in order to get support from people who appreciate this technology and can see the benefit of making 3D printing available to students. Here’s the link and if you use the code RIPPLE during checkout, your donation will be matched dollar for dollar (up to $50) https://ift.tt/2ntMBCs you could travel back in time to 5th grade, what would you make with a 3D printer? Thanks for listening and I would love it if you share or support my project! https://ift.tt/2KMEcTR

If you have a bunch of empty spools laying around, would you be interested in a spool reuse program?

Hi everyone,This is Robert from FilaBlend. We’re thinking of starting an empty spool reuse program. Here are our initial thoughts thus far:Send us 8 empty filament spools and receive one 500-g Curated Blend of your choice. Eight empty filament spools can fit in a box 15″x15″x6″ with the correct flange overlap. Assuming each empty spool is about 250-g and depending on where you live, it costs anywhere between $8-$25 for you to ship the spools to us. In return, you’ll get $35 worth of FilaBlend back (we’ll pay for the shipping to you).Spools should be made of non-recyclable plasticSpools should be free of any branding or adhesive residueSpools should not be damaged, such as having visible cracks or chipsSpools should have industry standard dimensions, such as 8″ diameter flange, 2″ diameter core, minimum 2″ height, etc.I’m hoping that this will allow folks to get some FilaBlend filament at a cheaper cost. This will allow us to reuse spools that would otherwise be thrown away, reducing a bit of waste. Win-win?Love to hear your thoughts. https://ift.tt/2nrSqjZ
