Visit to Microswiss! (pics)

http://ift.tt/2FcSVJM off the line! http://ift.tt/2FeEwZy friend of mine was talking about how Microswiss all metal hot end assemblies are the bomb for temperature control, quality, and speed. I was checking out their website and whoa… they’re like a mile away! Almost surreal, it seems like anything cool is always distant.I dropped in and met with Alex who programs the machines as well as runs all the front facing operations stuff for their business. He’s one of three brothers who own and operate the shop. Combined they have the programming know-how for the equipment, the operating experience, and the technical skills for drafting and machining. They recently moved into a new shop so it still has a bit of settling in to do, but I was able to see the machines they use to mill and cut various things. Super cool!At the end of the walk through we were chatting about how CR-10s are really up and coming (or have up and come) to replace how well supported the wanhao i3 is/was and is a step up in performance all the while without much cost difference. They described your they would never have thought they’d be able to do something like this and sustain, but here they are in a new bigger shop after starting from a garage with one machine years ago.On my way out I was able to pick up a couple of the assemblies and one of the Proto-Pasta matte fiber red filament which has an amazingly weird but cool texture. These guys are really top notch, love their work, and the craftsmanship really seems to reiterate that. I’m happy to see that such wholesome people are being rewarded for doing quality work in such a big community, right in my neighborhood no less!I’d love to see what you guys have positively seen after upgrading to an all metal hot end as I’ll be installing this really soon!Shout out to Alex and the guys, thanks for letting me come over and being so awesome. I’ll be back! http://ift.tt/2FnEORm
