Why on earth are we using Facebook Groups as knowledge centers for printers?

This is just a bad idea in so many ways. I’m looking at you CR-10 group. It’s a closed platformIt’s not indexed in Google!!!! How often do you search for a problem and find the answer on Reddit or Thingiverse. NEVER have I seen a decent result coming from Facebook. It encourages “ask before you search” mentalityAll this great data will be literally wiped off the face of the internet.I’m not saying people have to use Reddit. At least use something that Google can find so that all users can benefit from the data.EditI’m actually an attorney and have formed a number of 501(c)(3) corporations. Would anyone ever get behind the idea of forming a non-profit organization to cultivate “things” along the lines of Wikipedia? I feel like this idea is just too important to be left in the hands of a for profit company. This collective body of information is so important to our industry. We could form a board with similar principals to the reprap project. If done right, something like this could help push 3D printing more main stream in 5-10 years. http://ift.tt/2z3angl
