MMF has several times now, contacted me via DM here on Reddit, to ask if I would like any assistance migrating my youmagine model over to MMF. They claim that they really like my designs, are are willing to do the migration for me even. Seems innocuous enough right? Not to me.I’ve been very clear about my feelings about MMF in the past. they should be perma-banned from all of Reddit.com IMHO, based on the gross number of spamming campaigns their employees have been part of over the last few years.DM’ing someone, unsolicited, using their real name, and claiming to be a big fan of their work, is very off-putting to me. I do not like being contacted by any business without prior solicitation, or my request for them to do so. Basically telling me that you know who i am is also a pretty invasive way to start a message, regardless of the fact that i may/may not have made this public information in the past.I do suspect that MMF scrapes other repositories, and holds on to the data, in case it disappears from youmagine (etc) at a later point. I suspect if i were to oblige them, they could have the model uploaded in less time than it would take them to go out and download all my stuff. I of course do not have evidence of this, its just a strong suspicion. If this is true, i consider it to be unethical, not that i’m surprised given the track record.Has anyone else received these uninvited, and unprovoked invitations to migrate to MMF? if so, did you feel this way also, or were you flattered? did you choose to do it based on that communication alone?MMF if you are reading this, i think it would be wise to put me on your “leave me the fuck alone” list, This makes 3 attempts now to harvest my IP with consent, and my mind isn’t changing on the matter./RantPS-> I know many of you love MMF, thats fine, you’re entitled to it, and this is not an attack on persons who do choose to host their IP via MMF. http://ift.tt/2hAd4hV
