I don’t think they know what they’re doing….

So on kickstarter I saw this printer http://ift.tt/2jRzsnW, in practice, this is the Ono Olo printer but maybe worse… Here are the issues I seeNo cover is sold as a feature, and that their product won’t cure in normal light? But no real scientific basisNo limit switches, So Zed axis vs smart phone, who wins?Multi material, no cross contamination? How? Also requires every tank to be perfectly at the same level. Easy until you realize resin printers print in the 5-100 micron range.Resin printing is super high res, and you want to use crappy scanning with it? Why?Car charger…. Caaaar Charger…. “Hey honey, I know the toxic fumes may make it hard to drive, but try not to hit any bumps, otherwise the phone might move”Put it in your backpack!, Cause why not move the thing full of expensive resin….Exclusive cleaning solution…. what magical chemicals are you selling now?Is there a fep film thing? Why is the build plate have stepping? The mcube prototype video has some trickery at around 4-5 seconds, they don’t seem to want to show the plate turning….Can you make phone calls through the resin? The pair to print video seems to show them using the phone as the tensioner? Again how do you not smash phone?I hope this thing really get’s reported and taken down before we have another peachy or ono or literally many more. Also to anyone who thinks I don’t know what I am talking about, look at my previous post http://ift.tt/2wc06tc Trust me, these buggers are complex. But if T3D is reading this I got a great slogan for you.The T3D, let’s make driving dangerous again! http://ift.tt/2fg2OXI

Super Mario Print – Cool things for a boring industry

Hey Guys,Have been working on this project for the last few months and would like to share the results.I’ve gotten into 3D printing and have tried to come up with a way to make my job and industry a little more interesting. I really wanted to make something that could bridge the gap between work and play. I saw a Super Mario Amiibo in target and the idea was born. Several sleepless nights later I had created something cool.(Spoiler it’s a giant Mario)You can check out my journey and the creative process on our blog here: http://ift.tt/2yuVhwH would really like to do this again, if you have suggestions for future stuff or think of a cool idea I could do that would work with stanchions ( i made it the green pipe in this one).I used PLA for this, but next time I think I will be using HIPS since it seems much stronger, as I’ve gotten an enclosure for my Lulzbot Taz6. http://ift.tt/2wKIHHv
