Adding a Fan to a MOSFET

I remember reading somewhere about how you can attach the wires for an external fan for the MOSFET directly to the power in line, but can’t find where I read that anymore. Did I imagine this or is it safe to wire a 12v fan to the power input on the MOSFET when the PSU is 12v as well? http://ift.tt/2vHEjNp
