Yo.Just got some files from some student who wants to print… wetransfer link “Oh boy”, I think to myself. And sure enough – meshes with 2-4 millions of triangles and scale is fucked up – under 1 mm! Waiting for new proper files.Last year I had students who aren’t the best of friends with logic. One came in with a model of some futuristic rifle to 3D print, I open up the mesh and witness a mess of pieces not connected to anything and held on by The ForceTM .The other one, a bachelor designer designed a trike for production in Solidworks and wanted to print the wheels for a scale model. His file – the brake calipers and spokes were just separate object just jammed into the wheel (not joined, just pushed in virtually to intersect) and I almost hit print but noticed at the last moment that the whole print would fall apart.Another student sent me a file and requested 0.25 micron resolution…Something like that actually exists but is beyond the reach of us FDM peasantsOne student came in to print a model of a bracelet. Was something about 8 Euros. “Too expensive for such low quality” he said and probably went to find some SLA or MJP printers to do it because he came back later and said that the other place wanted ~70 Euros for the print.A student came in and wanted to print in pure wood. http://ift.tt/2pbu4x9
