I didn’t want to bring this up, and do not wish to polarize the community, or outcast myself. If in 24 hours this post is downvoted, I will remove it.I also want to disclose I do not own a maker select, and have a review of a different printer on the forum, but I am not trying to spam the maker select, or promote my review. I will ask that any printer discussion other than the maker select will not be discussed in this post. Safety is, and always will be, the number one concernThe Data. I’ve seen quite a few posts about heated bed terminal failures on the maker select here, I cannot show the actual numbers here, because I’m not good at navigating the search engine here. But there are claims there were 3 today on a post, with a number of replies describing similar experiences. There are also seven more listed in the feedback on the printer’s website that I found, but I did not read all the feedback. Some posters have said that the first thing they should do when they get the printer is install an external mosfet. There is another post by someone who contacted monoprice who has claimed to have fixed the issue, but has not shown proof of a solution yet.I am new to 3d printing, but am very experienced in ecigs, and a longtime member of ecf, where safety is the highest priority. I can tell you we have forced companies to improve, replace, or remove unsafe products in the past(remember the diecedyl thing big in the news lately? we started that years ago, and got a few companies to close their doors because of it).I do feel this sub has that same influence on the market, with some to spare. I also feel there are many other people who browse, but not subscribe, this forum and purchase a printer based off of our posts, and these readers, I feel, would lose the most buying a printer with a potential defect, because they might not spend the time to read posts on how to fix the issue. At the least, they could become discouraged with 3d printing, at most, well, we all know the dangers.I also feel that we have the capability to persuade manufacturers to improve their products, to the benefit of us allThe Question-should the maker select be suspended from the proven printers list until they can show this problem has been resolved? They are currently back ordered until the end of the month, and claim to have a fix, so there would be no damage the company would face from this, unless their fix isn’t good enough. And other than the connector issue, their product has a great reputation for affordability and reliability.Like I said, everyone here has been so helpful to me and all my meathead learning deficiencies, and I do not want to lose any respect or help from anyone, but I feel these issues should be fixed, and until it is proven they are, they shouldn’t be on the proven printers list. Thanks for reading, and I hope we can come to an agreement on this, even if that agreement goes against my opinion.I will humbly remove this post in 24 hours if we determine they should still be on the list. http://ift.tt/2lpojXa
