A few days ago i thought that i might not even get along with a 3D printer and then i just ordered one.A “cheap” Wanhao Duplicator I3, still fairly pricy for a toy at around 400€ but everything else costs way more.I thoroughly expecting to pack it up again and return it once i played with it a bit.To me all this looked either way too fiddely or simply not good enough.Tweaking settings, calibrating things and cobble together stuff only to have it look a bit crappy and flimsy. But after my first print i was flabbergasted at what this little machine printed out.I expected the second one to fail, it came out great. Then i printed one of my own designs and it came out just like it wanted it to.The next step was the 3D benchy, i sliced with cura, teaked a few stettings and expected it to look horrible. But even the benchy looks stellar.I tried breaking my own print and i could not get it to break with resonable force.I expexted these prints to be not that strong and easily breakable. They are incredibly light but still hold up damn well.I can not wrap my mind around it, there is nothing on the bed, i hit a few buttons and a few hours later i can hold something in my hand that i drew on the computer. The little boy in me that remembers watching star trek, the little boy that thought we would never have technology that can create something “out of thin air” still refuses to belive that this thing works. But well… he still thinks the same about my smartphone.I have these 4 little prints sitting my my desk, pic them up every few minutes and still refuse to belive that they got printed on the black machine that sits on the other end. This stuff is awesome, this crappy chinese 3D printer seriously blew my mind. http://ift.tt/2h3f7Hj
