Step-by-step guide to dialing in a 3D printer?

Tuning a printer is challenging so I’d like to see a comprehensive guide for getting all of the settings locked down, like a step-by-step process from start to finish that’s repeatable for all of your printing profiles. It should have quick and dirty models designed specifically for testing the different settings, similar to the twin pillars model Maker’s Muse designed for adjusting retraction settings. It should thoroughly explain all the slicer settings and how to adjust them based on how your print turns out. You’d keep printing that model until you get that setting perfected and then move on to the next setting. It would definitely need to be more than just a document or an article. It should be a full-blown website that’s attractive and easy to navigate. It could be a collaboration that’s continuously updated until it’s best damn guide out there and becomes the standard process that everyone uses. A rich visual troubleshooting guide would be crucial. Users should submit pics of their bad prints and explain how to correct the settings, but the authors should be in control of adding the pics to maintain the integrity of the guide.Wouldn’t everyone agree that this needs to happen? It would take all the guess-work out and make the whole process less intimidating, especially for those new to the hobby and not knowing where to start.Make it so. http://ift.tt/2hblLNN

Returning my MP Maker Select. What are some UL listed reasonable replacements?

First the power switch stopped powering the unit off, now the heat plate is not heating up. From research I’ve done, likely cause is charred board connectors.I no longer have any confidence on the product. It’s a shame because it did make beautiful prints, but safety comes first. http://ift.tt/2haqaQT
