We’re Cosine Additive – Ask Us Anything!

Hey everyone! We figured it was probably time to do an official one of these things. We’ve received such wonderful responses and support from this reddit over the years, it has been tremendously helpful. Please ask us anything, we’re happy to discuss technical details of our systems and even show pictures.Cosine is three years old, started by myself (Andrew) and my co-founder Jason. We have more gray hair since thenWe’re about 20 people on any given day. The average age is about 25 years old. We exist thanks to the untapped hidden talent pool at the University of Houston. We’re heavy in EE/CS engineers, with a few MechEs thrown in for good measure. We’re truly a startup. I quit my medical manufacturing and aerospace career to pursue this venture. We started with 1 guy, a $15 IKEA table, and a TrinityLabs 3d printer. Every dollar leading up to our first sale was our own money. We’ve spent a little time out in Silicon Valley, but apparently they’ve got more interest in apps than a bunch of good old boys in Texas making heavy hardware. Our goal with this particular machine was to force the entire industrial FDM industry to adopt a different business model. We are here to challenge them to change for the better. We want to see open material and open software adopted as the market standard. I’m sure that some other small companies will pick up on a few of our innovations and begin making smaller versions of our machine, that would be okay with us.Ask us anything! http://ift.tt/2g2PnOm
