Hey guys! I wanted to share with you that the VORON CoreXY 3D printer has been released over at /r/voroncorexy. I am not the creator nor affiliated with the printer, just a huge fan, and I ended up stripping my two old printers to make this my third. It is, by far, the most solid machine I’ve laid my hands on. Every piece of it shows the thought that went into it, almost like it was shaped by prior experience. Here are some of my favorite things about this machine:It’s fast: I’ve gotten to 150mm/s with really good quality on a 0.4mm with PLA, with travel speeds exceeding 200mm/sIt’s quiet: the fans are louder than the movementIt’s accurate: after tweaking extrusion my internal and external dimensions are usually within .01mmIt’s solid: a MIC6 stainless plate with PEI adheres so well I’ve had to turn down temperatures to pry things off after I’m doneIt’s repeatable: I haven’t even leveled my bed in a month and after it’s set I’ve had to do zero adjustments. I almost miss having to troubleshoot an issue back from my i3 days. It’s modular: any part can be removed within minutes and replaced without having to undo anything major. All parts come with electrical connectors and smartly placed fasteners. I remember taking off the whole gantry once in 5 minutes, hot end included, as there were only a few fasteners and all the cables were connectorized. There’s a great community: the creator is extremely diligent, and just recently, he decided to sell kits. Of course you’re welcome to self source if you have enough vitamins but the price is so reasonable that there’s almost no point.Pictures are worth a thousand words, check out some of the prints I’ve made with the VORON:http://ift.tt/2am0uyu extruder works so well that some of us have even gotten flex materials through the Bowden at lower speeds, but there’s a direct drive version available with a pancake NEMA 14. There are some upgrades planned soon, such as a belted Z drive that does away with lead screws and a remote drive that marries the Bowden with the direct drive.I chose this printer because, in my opinion, it’s superior to any other RepRap in existence, performs like a multi-$k machine, and there are zero compromises in quality and performance while staying under $1k.You can find the MZBot website linked up above or just check out the subreddit. We’d love to have some more builders among us! http://ift.tt/2axX35e
