Anyone interested in biological or ceramic printing?

Hey guys, I got a chance to visit Missouri S & T to take a look at their research, which focuses heavily on biological and ceramic printing. Would anyone be interested in a virtual tour of their work so far? I can whip one up over the next few days. http://ift.tt/2arwtNc

Stringing/Bonding Issues After Micro Swiss All Metal Hot End Upgrade (Maker Select v2)

So like many individuals, I went out and purchased the Monoprice Maker Select v2 when it was on sale. I was getting great prints, but I was experiencing some issues with PETG, so I figured I would “go all out” and upgrade the machine a bit.Since installation, I have been experiencing problems with stringing, bonding, and bridging – even in PLA.I used the included thermal paste, but I am using the Maker Select original cooling block. I have tried adjusting the retraction settings, but everything from .5 – 4.5 seems to still generate stringing. On the “Test Your Printer” STL on Thingiverse, the initial layers will be just fine, but as soon as it begins to attempt to make the taller layers such as the cylinder or pyramid, it fails pretty hard.”Test Your Printer” (http://ift.tt/1Ko7nFc) STL Settings:Slicer: CuraPrinting Temp: 210Bed Temp: 60/65Retraction Speed: 40Retraction Distance: 4mmTL;DR: If you added a Micro Swiss hot end, what problems or settings did you change? http://ift.tt/2adMHXR

4 days ago I dropped $150 on simplify3d. Wow

I decided after hearing so much great things about it to try it out. And I must say my prints have never looked this good. After 6 months of Cura and constant settings changes I thought I was doing good. With stock settings(except adding g28,g29) my prints are better than Cura. As I change settings the quality is getting better and better. Why did I not do this months ago? http://ift.tt/2ayxWRD

Tips and tricks on converting your Wanhao i3/Maker Select/Cocoon Create to a Titan extruder.

Link to my Wanhao i3/Maker Select/Cocoon Create Titan mounting plateSo I posted this to the Wanhao i3/Maker Select/Cocoon Create facebook group but I thought I’d post it here too for my beloved /r/3Dprinting. I am in the process of converting my Wanhao i3 to an E3D V6 Titan extruder combo using my own Titan mounting plate and I have compiled a few tips, tricks, and helpful hints about converting your Wanhao i3 style 3D printer to a Titan extruder so let’s jump into it. First the things you’ll need. You essentially Need 5-6 things to convert. The first 2 being the most obvious which are an E3D V6 hotend and the Titan extruder. The 2 you’ll need to print off yourselves which are the Titan mounting plate, and the 3rd rail tower brace mod made by user delukart. The 5th if you don’t have some are M4 button head screws either 12mm or 16mm in length to mount your mounting plate to the bearing blocks (if you dont have them you can buy a pack of 100 of them off of Amazon for 8 bucks). Lastly and most importantly is an 18Ncm NEMA 17 pancake motor because if you use the stock extruder motor it will crash into the other side of the X axis causing you to lose X length. So in all the mechanical and such (the hotend, extruder, and the stepper motor) will cost you a total of $144 US dollars and I’ll be linking to where I’ll be buying my supplies down below. Also digging into it I found a post on the Ultimaker forum by user Marcel2016 who found the Titan’s e step per mm multiplier which is 3.58. So if you’re still using the stock 96 e steps per mm on your Wanhao i3/Maker Select/Cocoon Create that value will be multiplied to around 351 (350.84 if you want to be exact). The only real issue I have come across is that there’s limited space to install a print cooling apparatus and I am firmly on that and am currently designing on that should fit the E3D V6 in that limited space. This print cooling duct should be up in a few days or so. That’s pretty much all I have you now, fill free to ask any questions you want and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can. Have asks good day and happy printing!E3D V6E3D Titan18Ncm NEMA 17 pancake motor3rd rail tower mod made by user delukartForum post where I found the Titan e step multiplier http://ift.tt/2adkpwN

This library provides PHP 7 functionality for reading and writing from and to 3D objects stored in STereoLithography (STL) files, useful for manipulating 3D objects for 3D Printing.
