My prints sizes are not accurate (Makers select i3)

So I have a Maker’s Select i3 which has been printing pretty well. Unfortunately I noticed that its size is not acurate. I wanted to calibrate my Z axis since my prints are always taller than they should be.I made a 15 x 15 x 15 mm cube with an open top and a wall thickness of .8mm ( multimples of my nozzle diameter and layer height).Once I measured the cube, it measures 15.23 on both Z & Y and it measures 15.43 on the Z axis. Now before I printed this, I taped my vernier to the head and jogged it using the board controls and each 1mm movement was accurate to .01mm. This makes me think that the steps/mm are correct since manual jogging gives me accurate movement. What could be causing this strange discrepancy in my prints? Thanks for all the help! http://ift.tt/1Xu30UA

Traveling w/ a 3d printer

Im most likely not going to do this due to concerns of breaking it and potential confiscation. I am traveling to Peru this year and am wondering how much of a risk of being taken does a 3d printer have at the airport in Peru?Disclaimer about my printer: It is not 100% built yet I designed it The PSU is the standard 12V 30A power supply It is made to be assembled and disassembled rather quickly. Ramps 1.4 It would travel partialy dissembled http://ift.tt/1WReXUj
