Silicone oil for filament lubrication?

I have an air rifle and a while ago I purchased some silicone oil to lube the parts; I recently started using it to lube the threads, rods and bearings and the printer runs very smoothly.I have heard that it is good to lubricate filament and along side this I am currently printing a filament filter which holds a sponge to pull dust etc off of the filament as it feeds. Would a small drop of silicone oil on the sponge be good for lubricating filament? Or would I need something else? Is it even necessary? Thanks everyone 🙂 http://ift.tt/28UWvrs

Trying to get boyfriend gift for his birthday, but unsure if i should get a board or a brand new 3d printer

My boyfriend has the Q3 2Up 3D Printer (http://ift.tt/1B7O4Q3) whose board was fried by his mother a while ago. His birthday is coming up so I was wondering if I should just replace his board (which I don’t know anything about 3D printing so I think this (http://ift.tt/28QNkIW) is what I need), or if I should get him a brand new 3D printer. If I get him a new 3D printer, I can’t afford anything more than $500 at most, but I could use recommendations for that. Otherwise, I could use some help figuring out exactly what board I need to replace and where to find one because the site I linked was out of the parts.I’m sorry for my little knowledge on the topic but I just don’t know what to do. http://ift.tt/28RDFSu

Odd issue with Folger tech cloner

Hey guys,I’ve run into a bit of an odd issue with my printer. The end stops appear not to be working as intended. Whenever I start a print, the extruders attempt to enter the front left corner and won’t stop until commanded. I can manually press the end stops and it registers so I know they do work. The only possibility I can think of is that I’ve entered something wrong in the auduino firmware, but it’s hard to tell since the documentation is garbage. Thanks in advance!Edit: Here’s a video of the issue http://ift.tt/28VlXw9
