New to 3D Printing – Just wanted to say thanks

Hello reddit community,I’ve been lurking the subreddit and the internet at large researching 3D printing and decided to bite the bullet several weeks ago. This post is mostly to say thank you and share my experience this far.Every question I’ve had thus far has been answered more than once here so the setup process has been very smooth.I had considered purchasing a Pursa kit from Ebay but after a few concerning post I ended up buying a delta kit from a supplier in CA. Assembly took about 12 hrs.http://ift.tt/1ZwtHG5 had no experience with printing software but decided to start with Cura after reading post here. The test cylinders and cubes all came out very clean and with the correct dimensions.Since things were going so smoothly I designed some Vented corner covers to protect some of the wiring and control boards.http://ift.tt/1VLtDTY http://ift.tt/1Zwubft planning on printing ABS and hopefully trying nylon. I will be repurposing this Heated Ozone sports equipment sanitizer, that I built a few years ago to clean my sons hockey equipment. It’s heated, with ducted forced ventilation outdoors and it’s lined with stainless steel so I feel safe running long prints inside unattended.http://ift.tt/1VLui7D http://ift.tt/1Zwu8Al thinking of modifying the door to add a glass window.I added some bright LED aquarium lights and a wifi IP Camera linked to my mobile phone so I can monitor printing while away.http://ift.tt/1VLuB2k… THANKS to all those with experience for sharing what they have learned.I’m looking forward to contributing back to the community. http://ift.tt/1UfxFCL

Makergeeks.com Filament Troubles

Hello, r/3Dprinting. On May 30th I bought some filament from Makergeeks, and this is a documentation of my experience. The entire package shipped out, and arrived on the 5th. This was just fine. Then I opened it, and they forgot my PVA filament.(bought a random-color lot of 2 colors of PETG, 1 surprise filament, and 1 0.5kg spool of eSUN PVA.)Not really a problem, the boxes are packaged by humans. Emailed and asked, they said it was out-of-stock, and they’re willing to either refund me the cost of the PVA or send it overnight when it comes in. Given that I’m impatient I asked for the refund and bought some PVA on Amazon. Same stuff, roughly same cost, overnight shipping.Printed a 3DBenchy using PETG, forgot to disable supports from the layer fan print. Disabled supports, re-sliced, checked it in Notepad++ to verify it’s okay G-code (sometimes Cura shits its pants.) and threw another through. All Hell broke loose- underextrusion up the wazoo, blown-out surfaces, a few blobs…It’s all out-of-round and varying in diameter from 1.72mm to 1.88mm. Not okay.I checked the yellow PLA as well, same thing. This is insane. Asking for a refund. Gonna test the PLA to see if it’s even actually PLA. http://ift.tt/1rcGstH

A high school freshman I went to school with 3d printed a sleeve prosthetic that can be used to play instruments for two students in the middle school of our school. I filmed the documentary for it.
