Improved license management in Simplify3D 3.1!

Just got the email update from them about 3.1 and it looks like dealing with licenses is much better. That knocks off one of the big complaints, I think. THoughts?Link to the license management page: http://ift.tt/1UHtqyy of the update: “Several new improvements to our licensing system make it easier to see where your software is installed and give you more control over how your licenses are used. Buying a new laptop? Hard drive crashed? Reimaged computer? The new improved License Management page gives you the ability to quickly fix these problems so that you can keep printing without interruption.”Screenshot: http://ift.tt/1UFmkaY(Edited to add more details) http://ift.tt/25PuEk2

Why do I need filament guide tube?

I was reading an article about z banding (I made another thread here about it) and came across another possible suspect. One I had never considered; pulling the filament from the spool could have enough friction to lift the extruder by tiny amounts causing the print to have occasional bands. It also suggests using a guide tube to fix that. But I don’t know how that helps, as it only adds more friction. Also, a lot of people/printer use these guide tubes. Why? Everyone seems to think they need one but I couldn’t find any explanation of why. http://ift.tt/22YiQXo

Ordered Monoprice Maker Select received V2.1?

I ordered the Maker Select on June 5th from Amazon received it last night. It has thumb screws and lock nuts on the build plate. Thumbwheel Also new bearing blocks that no longer rub on the belt. Bearing BlockI also printed my first benchy with it last night Benchy and while it needs some work (I think I was printing too hot) I was impressed at the quality considering I have done no dialing in or any modifications. My only complaint is I think the y-axis bearings are bad I hear a clunking/grinding noise when I move the bed and it is very jerky. So I am planning on ordering some new bearings and hopefully that will fix the problem. http://ift.tt/25OxeGW

OCTO Pi or ASTRO Print

I have used both, i am currently still using astro print. I would like to know which one the community is favoring and why.For my astro print is more streamline but loses some functionality. ( i hate i cant manually control the Fan) Octo Print IS great and i like the user interface but dammit i couldn’t get the dam web cam to work with it.)Any ways at least there are options out there. i highly recommend getting at least a pi 2. I cant go back to my pi 1 anymore. http://ift.tt/1Xd2j1Z
